London provides plenty of opportunities for student water polo players in terms of competition and development. University of London Water Polo brings together the best players from the University of London Colleges and has a reputation for having the best university water polo teams. The players come from a variety of strong water polo backgrounds and countries, and there is a great camaraderie within the teams. There are dedicated and experienced coaching staff to direct all sessions and matches. UL also has the benefit of strong links with the National League Clubs based in London: Polytechnic, Penguin and Otter, all of whom are very supportive, and encourage students to participate in their clubs and offer membership discounts.

Our main goal for the season is winning the British University Championships (BUSA). Both Mens and Womens teams are consistent finalists. The mens team have won the championship for the past three years. Additional matches come from friendlies, tournaments and tours arranged against other universities. This gives us a chance to practice for BUSA and meet other teams and visit other universities when playing away.

University of London is made up of various Colleges, such as Imperial, Kings, UCL, SOAS, LSE etc. Some, but not all, of the London Colleges have their own water polo clubs. University of London Water Polo teams bring together the best water polo players from the different Colleges. The College water polo teams are of a lower competitive standard, and it is a good place for new players and beginners to train and compete. We attend two tournaments each year. One at the University of Compiegne, near Paris and the other in Eindhoven in Holland. UL has a high reputation at these competitions both in and out of the pool. You can see pictures from our past tours, tournaments and social events in our photo gallery.
